It is 1977. At Hogwarts, a new school year is beginning just as it does every year, but around the Wizarding World, there is a definite feeling of unrest building up. Suddenly, it matters who your parents were, whether they were muggles or came from a long line of purebloods. The house you were in at school, something you'd long since forgotten about, now seems to dictate which people you can befriend. And, more important that all this, there is a feeling of hatred brewing. As yet, it is barely recognisable, but the world is being split in two. Rumours of a Lord Voldemort who wishes to purify the magical world have divided those people who could once have lived in harmony into those who are for him, and those who are against him.
Inside the castle, things are going on almost as before. Gryffindors are avoiding Slytherins in the corridors, students are picking fights with each other, and above all, there is the pressure of examinations that would get all the students down, if they allowed it to. But these things are not out of the ordinary; it is the need to choose who you are fighting for which is pressurising everyone at Hogwarts. When did it stop being all fun and games? When did the people you chose to associate with define who you were meant to support? When did it start feeling like the world you knew so well was about to fall apart?
Who knows what lies ahead this year? It could be one full of drama and violence...or it could be just like any other year, with just the feeling of anticipation hanging over everyone's heads. What everyone does know, however, is that this is just the calm...
