Personality :: Two words cand describe Marianne most accurately: Stepford Wife. Loyal, obiedient, and not that bad looking. She knew how to cook moderately. Arm candy at parties. Well, Arm Candy with a brain. One does not become a Secretary for nothing. She knows what she's doing, why, and what the impact will be. Despite popular belief, Secretaries are in the top 5 jobs that require the most skill. Most heads of departments aren't the most organized people. They had people that do that for them. Mary is those people. She had, and always will be, a chain of command kind of woman.
Although, in the home, she has a completely different demeanor. She's quieter, pleasant, and always the skirt wearer. The Crouches have Norman Rockwell beat, hands down. But not all of it is picture perfect, as nothing ever is. From some strange reason, Mary can't bring that hard ass diplomatic personality home. Possibly because she doesn't live with the people she works with, and they don't know too terribly much about her personal life. She doesn't divulge such private information. Those things make one sensitive. Which at times, she can be downright woman-ish. And NOT the Woman-ish feminist. Woman-ish tearful sensitive, with a pseudo damel complex. Which thinking back she supposes both slightly irriates and boosts male ego. Chauvanists...
And the third part of the woman's triangle, the mother. much different that worker or lover. A different kind of love. One a parent has seeing their offspring to anything. Her only son, Barty Jr. is one she dotes upon most constantly. Advantages of being an only child...your mother absolutely adores you. As does Mary adore her son. He's a spitting image of father, and she had such 'good' taste in men did she not?
Appearance :: Reiterating. Arm Candy. Marianne is NOT a bad looking woman. Not completely idealic, no, but we can't all be blonde bombshells that stand at seven feet tall with a nice rack, can we? Well, as they say, opposites are just as attractive. Petite, lithe, and definately not as buxom as most women, Mary proves to be the type that would hold a position of power rather than a breeding vat. More like the librarian all the boy's ask for help, or the slightly cliche'd sectretary (oh, the irony!).
But blemishes are given to everyone, some more than others. Mary isn't the tanest of people, and from her lack of real sunshine, her skin has gained a slightly pale feature to her looks. Which could be taken as a good and bad thing. In the pro corner, it heightens the gaze of her green-perido eye color, making her gaze amplified from anything to a sympathetic smile to a glare of doom. (At least, how some people account it...)
And her hair...almost as far from the blonde as possible. As a child, Mary always had a mane of unruly choclate curls, that over the years became a more managable mess of chestnut curls. over the years, it's varied from shorter to shoulder length, depending on events of the moment, or where she was going. Looks is something the world runs on, both muggle and wizard. Like politics. And that is something Mary understands very well.
Family :: Bartemius Crouch Sr. - Husband [40] Her confidante, friend, and lover. Devoted and loving. Bartemius Crouch Jr. - Son [age pending] The other love. Doting and protective (like all mothers are)
Samantha West - Sister [43] Married off to a wizard from the Americas. Character History :: Always the proud Ravenclaw Marianne has been. The intelligence and pure wit of the house rubbed off on the girl who played with too many wizard dolls and traded her choclate frog cards to the little boys in her neighborhood for their sister's clips and makeup. She became that sophsticated conservative woman that went on to a finishing school and then an internship at the MoM. Always the quick writer, her scribbling skills from school turned into writing the letters and memos for a boss. Sure, Quick Quote Quills were nice, but oh so expensive, and much less personality. Not to mention they didn't write EVERYTHING you wished to say.
And doing her job, is where she met Barty. Delivering a letter from her boss, as it were. Like a movie. Or a moving picture from one of her fairy tales. However the slight contrasting conflicts, Mary has always kept her muggle object passion a secret. After all, not everyone looks upon muggles as fondly as she does. Especially not purebloods. Most likely, something she would be ridiculed at. And working with people who think you are scum does not help one's stress levels.
Having mailed her sister she was getting married, the older woman promptly had sailed over from the United States, (which at the time, marrying a foreigner was all the rage...) to check out Mr. Right. After all, as feminine as Mary could be, she was not known for her man selection choices. Always nice to have a second opinion. But NOT when your second opinon asks things like 'How many kids', and 'What have you been doing before I got here?' For the entire week Samantha stayed with them, Mary's cheeks were a permanent red. But at least her wedding went nearly almost as planned. (No one's is ever perfect. That's half the fun.)
And then came, roughly a year and a half later, the most exciteing and painful moment of Marianne's life. Little Barty Crouch Jr. was brought into the world. He looked just like Dad, with subtle hints of Mum, or so she told everyone. Little Barty, or Junior, was the apple of her eye for a while. He was a bit brattish at times, and there were several moments where Barty Senior did not approve of his wife's reactions to some of his findings. But she waved him off, enjoying her newest job as being motherly. She went back to work promptly when little Barty was 2, and has been working hard to both be supportive (and occasionally embarrasing) and a help to the wizarding community. And that, is never easy.
